Ooni of Ife and Alaafin of Oyo.

Ooni of Ife and Alaafin of Oyo.

OONI, ALAAFIN AND THE 'YORUBAN' EPITOME

It is a historical knowledge that the Yoruba ethnic group has never been at peace within. Their history is replete with disagreements, strifes and intra-tribal wars. These characteristics of the history of these people, likely, have instructed one of their 'wise-sayingsʼ that "gbogbo wa o le Sun ka kori si ibikan naa".

This saying is instructive for understanding, not the yoruba people alone, but as well as other groups of people, who share their elements of ethnic composition.

The yoruba group of people is a multi-tribal ethnic group. Other multi-tribal ethnic groups of people are the Caucasian, the Indian, the Asiatic, etc.

Because of this ethnic composition, the yoruba's code of multitude of perception and perspective, comes to force. "Gbogbo wa o le sun ka korisi ibikan naa" means(literally) that 'All people cannot sleep and place their heads in the same or towards the same direction'. This is a figurative statement that emphasises that different people may not view things in the same way. (See my article "Social Geneticsm..."). Thus, there lies the germ of disagreements among peoples. Among the yoruba people and other multi-tribal peoples like them, however, what their history has established is that they have characteristically been unable to resolve their various different perceptions and perspectives. Thus, their history is a history of endemic intra-tribal wars. The same history variables are reflected in the history of the Caucasians, the Indians and the Asiatic people. The two world wars ever, were resultants of the internal strifes among the #Caucasian people in Europe. Similarly, the history of the #Indians, especially those on the continents of the Americas, yields such data of strifes that aided their lands being taken over by the invading Europeans. And up to the present, there is systemic strifes among various countries on the #Asian continent.

It is certain that the yorubas have never had, nor enjoyed, any undiluted #peace and unity. That is why we have created a #myth to underline that difficulty. The iconic "Curse of Aole" is best used as an explanatory myth to explain why an ethnic group, which, legendarily identify a common ancestry, has existed in perpetual and intractable, sometimes subtle, crises all of their history.

However, the current conflict between the Ooni of Ife and Alaafin of #Oyo is pushing to give credence to the conceptual 'Curse of Aole'! Otherwise, why would the two paramount and prominent foremost traditional rulers of the Yorubas would not rise or be able to rise above such an issue at this crucial time in our existence!! This point is made against the background of the two monarchs as very educated and civilised men, who have 'seen it all'!

To start with, any positive analysis of the the crux of the matter would expose it as 'non-issue'.

If we believe that Ile-Ife is the cradle, the source of the Yoruba as a people, then a basis for an agreement over the matter of the ethnicwide chieftancy is settleable. The view that #Alaafin is the political traditional head of the #yorubaland doesn't replace the legend that Ooni of #Ife is the spiritual and cultural head of the #yorubas. Thus, the Ooni may generate or create a new office for the yorubaland, once he feels a #spiritual need.

Culture is dynamic. It is not static. You see #Europe as the centre of the modern #civilisation, right now, right?? But you would be amazed, sometimes disgusted, when you go through the #history of the ancient #Europeans.

Thus, the controversies over the #Ooni new ethnicwide appointment is certainly unnecessary. It is simply a vehicle for the #evolution of the #yoruba #culture and #tradition, especially at this time that we face a form of existential issues.(see my article on academia.edu, titled "Social Geneticsm....")

OYO STATE, UNICEF URGE MFIs TO RECOVER ITS REVOLVING FACILITY

The government of Oyo State and United Nations International Children's Fund, UNICEF, insist on recovery of loans offered by the Microfinance Institutions to Toilet Business Owners (TBOs).

To this end, the State Government and representatives of UNICEF, have set a template towards recovery of revolving loans variously granted to a number of Toilet Business Owners in the state.

The decision was arrived at during a review meeting of 15-months cycle of Sanitation Revolving Fund to the affected beneficiaries, held this week in Ibadan.

The multimillion naira loan given to the TBOs in Ona-Ara and Egbeda, under the Open Defecation Free project, has recorded huge success, while some TBOs have defaulted.

Miffed by the poor disposition of the defaulters, the Chairman of Oyo State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (OYORUWASSA), Alhaji Babalola Afobaje, at an interface with officials of UNICEF, directed the microfinance institutions to go after the defaulters.

Recall that, the duo of Egbeda and Ona Ara Local Government Council Areas of the state, were selected for certification as Open defecation free.

The Chairman extended his appreciation to UNICEF for supporting Oyo State Government, in its quest to end open defecation.

He acknowledged UNICEF's financial and technical support, at ensuring that the goal of 'ODF' is achieved in the state.

Alhaji Afobaje expressed satisfaction on the commitment of the Microfinance institutions for the way they had managed the sanitation revolving fund, given to their institutions by UNICEF.

The Chairman emphasized that the rural communities should be given a high priority.

He equally assured the MFIs that OYORUWASSA is ready to partner with them to ensure that the fund given to the households were retrieved.

The General Manager of OYORUWASSA, Mr. Adeduntan Adeniyi, said that the enormous fund made available to the micro finance institutions for construction of toilets were judiciously used.

He said with this, Oyo state us gradually moving towards being an open defecation free state.

The General Manager noted that the micro finance institutions in charge of this fund effectively managed them.

He added that the fund given by UNICEF was already due for liquidation, which necessitated the meeting.

Also speaking, the Unicef Wash Consultant, Miss. Faith Gbagidi, said the meeting became necessary in order to know the next step regarding the sanitation revolving fund.

She said steps must be taken to address bottlenecks encountered during disbursement and recovery of Sanitation Revolving Fund.

She maintained that there was the need to review the 15-months cycle of sanitation revolving fund towards achieving a better result.

This post is in honour of #EstherOkoronkwo Based on its purpose the human evolutionary journey is predictable. It is notable that the sole cause of the evolution is survival, and that is also its sole goal. Humanity is divided into 2 principal biological cells, male and female. Based on the functions of each of these cells for the collective survival of us, there are assigned biological capabilities to each of the cells. These capabilities are carefully creatively selected for each class of the cells to be compatible for the overall function of the classes of these cells. With collective biological capabilities, which are common to both classes of the human cells, there are separate capabilities, due for the assigned functions of the male cells and female cells. These inserts in our nature the duality required to generate our ability for the survival of our species. Over the past time, these separate capabilities render the female cells

Over the past time, these separate capabilities render the female cells "weaker" in comparison to the male cells, which is stronger. There comes the essential positive and negative duality that is required to drive our biological system towards our survival. However, now that the female cells have been crossing the biological boundaries, there is certainty that the evolutionary system has been monitoring the process of female cells 'anti-gravity' behaviours. Our sisters have demistified us. There is nothing we male cells do or can do that our sisters have not done or cannot do. Our sisters have joined us in everything and everywhere. In those human endeavours we would gleefully describe as masculine, our feminine counterparts are conquering us there on "our stuffs". Name it: as physical as boxing is, wrestling, martial arts, and the most beautiful is in football. Now, I prefer to watch the female games in football. Yesterday watching the Nigerian Super Falcons playing, my thoughts fixed on Esther Okoronkwo. It is amazing, seeing a young girl playing with so much intelligence, strength and strategic thinking informed me that the Evolution system is watching. You see, evolution monitors and studies the environment of existence of a species to determine what the species needs for it to continue its survival. Based on what our sisters have been doing, what their RNA would be reading is how to keep them safe in their new environment. Because all what the Evolution system does is to protect us from becoming extinct. So it calculates every environment of a species in terms of the survival of that species. It then creates additional biological capabilities which it considers as suitable to the survival of the species in its new environment. It may remove a capability which it considers as no more suitable for the species in that new environment and condition of its existence. That is what is called 'mutation'. Now, we can predict that, in the next, let us say, a One Hundred Thousand years, or let say in the next 1m years, our sisters will no longer be what or whom we are used to. They are going to be better than us, maybe stronger, smarter and much more intelligent than us - because they are the ones who are currently challenging their current evolution. I love you all💯, our lovely sisters. I salute you, dear Queen Esther Okoronkwo. Keep pushing the boundaries 💐👭💕🌹💞💞❤️❤️💜🎉🎂🎂💐🌳✌️🌾👍👍👋🍁🥀🥀🍀💞🌹💕🍃🏵️🥀

UNIT OF TIME FOR INDIVIDUAL vs COMMUNITY

Life and time of a community is not based on 24hour/Day unit of time. This is the calculation. A single human being has 60seconds/minute, 60minutes/hour and 24hour/Day. A community acts by, through the clusters of human beings. The units of time for a community depends on needs and working capacities of each community. The base for the calculation of the units of time for a community is based on the decision+process+action x the size+efficiency of the population of the specific community. Let us take a specific decision, the decision is taken through and in transition. Transition from the initiation of the required decision, from the originator of the required decision to the processor of the required decision, then to the approval of the decision. These processes use transmission vehicles, from one point of action to the next and the next and the next, etc. Within this, there chances of delay, built around human vagagries.

Then, after the decision has been made comes the determining of the course of action to determine what action or actions are required to Implement the taken decision. After the success of these processes settling on decision to determining the required action to implement the decision, comes mobilisation of materials for the implementation. Where availability of human or/and materials are inadequate or missing, then there you are, another round of decisions and actions would be needed to implement the original decision. What a single human being, been a unit of the community, would accomplish within a reasonable amount of time, let say 24 hours, it will, and it does, take a community a multiple 24 hours to accomplish.

Thus, the perorata of time for a community is 24 hours x the size and efficiency of working members of that community. The safe appropriation is an approximate 7day(individual human)/1day(the community).

Therefore, a year of a community is equal to 365days(human)/7. That is, 7 years for human is 1 year for a community.

A state as Nigeria is, is a Community. Therefore, what Obi has said is that he could fix Nigeria in 365 days divided into 7x4. This will give us just 52+ x 4 = 209 days. That is, human 4 years is equal to 6 months and 29 days for a community. We can approximate it to 7 months of the in the life of a community as Nigeria is. That is clearly magical.

UKRAINE: WHO GETS WHAT, AS THINGS NOW STAND!

#POTUS Trump is understood to have broken a truce in the #RUSSIAUKRAINIANWAR during the #PursuingPeace summit, which held, recently, in Alaska, the US. The #Summit suspectedly closed with a seemingly draft of peace agreement to end the war.

Allwell Madubuaku highlights the suspected agreement, as follows:

●Russia gets most of what it was aiming for. Most likely de jure recognition of Crimea and for now de facto recognition of Donbas as Russian territories.

●The US gets a not too shabby (100 billion dollar) contact for providing security of a future Ukraine, what's left of it, paid for by the hapless Europeans of course Donald more than likely gets his Nobel.

●Ukraine gets a flat NO for NATO membership. NO for NATO troops on Ukrainian territory. A possible NO for EU membership as making the mistake of accepting that basket case into the Union will economically bring the EU to its already wobbly knees.

Zelensky gets to say that "We have fought to save Kiev".

●Europe gets the privilege of footing the bill for a deal worked out exclusively between Trump and Putin and imposed on Zelensky and his Eurosponsors by a Trump who emerges as the undisputed leader of the west.

●Rutte of NATO, gets to be reminded that he is only an appointed puppet who is not allowed to take initiatives of his own and is in that position for as long as his true master tolerates him.

NISER Challenge State Governments, Private Sector to Explore the Opportunities of the New Energy Act for Improved Electricity Availability

Wednesday 27th, September 2025.

The Nigerian Institute for Social and Economic Research, NISER, has called on the subnationals of the country to explore the opportunities provided by the 2023 Electricity Act, to develop and promote a decentralised grid system for a stable and affordable electricity supply for businesses and residents of the country.

This call was made yesterday, Tuesday August 26th, 2025, by the Director-General of NISER, Professor Antonia Simbine, at the August edition of the Institute's monthly Research presentation Seminar, held at its office in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital.

Speaking to kick-start the Seminar, the Director-General said that "the theme of the Seminar aligns with the the Renewed Hope Agenda of the present Government of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, which places energy security, affordability, and sustainability at the heart of Nigeria's economic transformation".

Speaking further, Professor Sambine said "this conversation is not just about electricity tariffs. It is about livelihood, industrial competitiveness, and the pathway to national development". The DG said "The Renewed Hope Agenda challenges us to design policies that make electricity, not only available, but also reliable, accessible and affordable, enabling households to thrive and businesses to compete globally".

During the presentation, the lead researcher, Dr. Iyabode Olanrele, said that the study conducted by her group, has revealed that firms in Nigeria spend as much as 82 per cent of their monthly turnover on production costs, largely due to soaring electricity tariffs.

These findings were presented at the seminar with the theme ‘Balancing Electricity Tariffs and Consumers’ Wallets: Insights from Nigerian Households and Firms’ Ability to Pay”.

According to the presenter, the study further showed that "households now receive an average of 10 hours of electricity daily, far below the 20-hour benchmark" .

According to the lead researcher, Dr. Iyabo Olanrele, "the monthly grid electricity bills for households almost doubled from N17,647.49 to N34,942.04, a 98 per cent increase, while grid-related costs for firms rose by 92.2 per cent".

She noted that 67.5 per cent of firms consider the new tariff unaffordable, with larger, high-input businesses most affected.

“The study found that firms spend 82% of their monthly turnover on production costs, mainly due to the electricity tariff. Although 87.5% reported moderate electricity supply improvement, it is still below the 20-hour requirement.

“Grid electricity expenditure rose by 92.2% due to the tariff hike, which 67.5% of firms found unaffordable, and large-scale and high input cost firms were less able to afford the increase, while older firms showed more resilience.

“The study shows coping strategies adopted by households and firms in the face of the challenges posed by the increase in tariffs.

“While households adopt switching to solar, inverters, and energy-efficient appliances, which not all can afford, many firms take to renewable energy use, energy-saving measures, and efficient technologies, with some firms remaining undecided,” she said.

The report found that "while 87.5 per cent of firms acknowledged moderate improvement in power supply, availability remains inadequate".

It also highlighted coping strategies such as households adopting solar, inverters, and energy-saving appliances, while firms turn to renewable energy and efficiency technologies to cushion the impact.

Rounding off the seminar, the chairman of the occasion, Dr. Hassan Mahmud, the President of the Nigeria Association of Energy Economics, reviewed that “The meeting, after robust discussions by energy experts and economists, recommended that NERC should enforce service reliability mandate by setting minimum threshold for DISCO infrastructural investment before future hikes; and the federal government should raise household income by implementing the 2024 new minimum wage to create some respites.”

It would recall that one of the first actions of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in office was giving assent to the 2023 Electricity Bill 2023 to become an Act.

The seminar had in attendance experts such as Dr Ekundayo Peter Mesagan of Pan-Atlantic University, Lagos, among others.
